Free Public Speaking Tips

Are you molding to present a speech? Initially you may be nervous and many people have this anxiety when called upon to speak. Inexperience in public speaking confers you a scary proposition. The first tip that can help you is to know your audience.

Know the type of people you are speaking to. What is important to them? What are they interested in? What would they find funny and what would they find tasteless? Humor is an important part of public speaking but you don't want to tell a joke that bombs, or even worse, is insulting to your audience. What a group of teenagers would find amusing and interesting is going to be substantially different from what a group of senior citizens would find amusing and interesting. Pretend you are a confident speaker and you are more likely to become one. Visualization can help you as well. Relax by taking several deep breaths. Then, once you feel calm and centered, create a mental picture of yourself giving the perfect speech. Imagine yourself confident and in control as you are speaking. Picture the audience giving you their full attention and relating well to what you are saying.

Another one of the best free public speaking tips you will ever find is to practice as much as you can. The more you practice, the better you will become. There is no such thing as too much practice. Do the best you can to memorize your speech by heart so you'll be less likely to forget the words. Give your speech in front of a video camera or at least a mirror so you can watch your performance.
